Mission
Winecircus is an experimental winery in Montalcino based on the belief that the realm of chance and experimentation are vital to discovery. Winecircus also revolves around the idea that the challenges and problems of winemaking offer new possibilities for exploration. It provides a place where new ideas freely develop and often grow into full-scale research with the help of interns from around the world.
Each year, Winecircus produces wines of unique character that reflect the experience, actions, and ideas of their creators. These experimental wines reflect a "journey" that expresses, in the most authentic way possible, the terroir, geography, terrain, and varieties that go into their making. The project's wines are the result of extensive environmental and historical analyses focusing on soil, climate, ecosystem, exposure, and plant and fruit characteristics. The winemaking process that follows captures as much as possible the natural potential of a terroir. The wine which results also reflects a precise technical approach and philosophy.
The first generation of wines produced by Winecircus emerged out of the "La Quadratura del Cerchio" or "Squaring the Circle" project, which itself grew out of ten years of previous experimentation. The most recent project within Winecircus is "Winetailor".
